Rick Boucher Needs To Face All of Virginia's 9th District

August is one hot month for congressmen who are finding out their subjects actually believe they are citizens. Confrontations around the country show that the sheeple may finally be standing up on two legs. Big Media and the political Left are angry and lashing out. It seems the people are supposed to shut up and be ruled.

In southwest Virginia's 9th congressional district, Democrat congressman Rick Boucher likes to fly under the radar. Avoid controversy and regularly remind folks of all the pork he brings home to the district. Boucher is holding two town halls on health care:

Tuesday, August 18, 2009
9:00 AM Edwards Hall
New River Valley Community College
Dublin, Virginia

Thursday, August 20, 2009
9:00 AM Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center
Abingdon, Virginia

Of course, this seems like Boucher is making himself available to the people. However, there are a couple problems. First, both town halls are at 9:00am when most folks are working. Maybe Boucher is depending on the unemployed and the government-dependent to be his choir for the day. Over the course of a month, don't you think a Saturday morning or weekday evening town hall could be arranged? The answer is, of course, "yes" if Boucher actually wanted to hear what the constituents have to say.

Another problem is location. The 9th district is over 8,800 square miles--larger than the state of New Jersey. The district includes nineteen counties and parts of three others along with four small independent cities. With a full month recess and the key issue being a government takeover of one-fifth of the American economy and the the health care of every citizen, it would seem Mr. Boucher would make himself more accessible to the people of this large district. The eastern side of his district is ignored.

Citizens of the 9th District need to demand that Rick Boucher takes his job seriously and makes himself available to folks of southwest Virginia. Call or visit Congressman Boucher's regional offices at:

Roanoke Independence Day Tea Party--Be Heard (Or At Least Seen)

Check the Roanoke Tea Party site for the latest on Saturday's rally in Elmwood Park in Roanoke, Virginia. Constituents of the 5th and 9th district should especially show their displeasure with Representatives Tom Perriello and Rick Boucher for selling out their futures to Leftwing special interests in the Waxman-Markey Cap-and-Trade bill. If it does pass the Senate, Cap-and-Trade will have to again go through the House as a conference bill. Let Perriello and Boucher know they need to reconsider supporting the biggest tax increase in American history.

Check out Tea Party Patriots for more information about Independence Day Tea Parties across the country. There are at least 12 in Virginia, so celebrate part of your Independence Day with other like-minded patriots. Maybe you can even drag a few of your mushy moderate friends along, so that they can see the Conservative grass roots in action.
