Professor Carolina Heldman Denigrates Real Americans on "The O'Reilly Factor"

In the first segment of tonight's "O'Reilly Factor", Bill O'Reilly attempted to hold a discussion concerning President Barry Vladimir Hussein Soetero Obama's sinking popularity numbers. The guests were pollster Scott Rasmussen and Professorette Caroline Heldman from Occidental College. Rasmussen opened with an analysis of the numbers and what they may mean down the road.

Professorette Heldman's well-reasoned evaluation of Obama's approval ratings? "Those idiots out in Flyover Country are stifling democratic debate and don't know anything about health care. If they weren't so stupid they would jump aboard the O-Train. " Ok, that isn't a direct quote, but it is a pretty accurate summary of her soliloquy. However, this alleged expert in the field of political science did not even attempt to participate in a discussion of the issue at hand. Instead, she conducted a filibuster on how horrible American health care is and how socialized medicine is the answer. If possible, I will add the video later. The "expert" simply dismissed the opposition as being too ignorant to understand the issue.

Whether the Obama supporter is a media hack, a sleazy politician, or an arrogant academic the theme is the same: Real America is a cesspool of imbeciles and idiots who don't understand that they would be better served if they turned their lives over to the government. We know that members of Congress laugh at the idea of actually reading bills; I would wager that Dr. Heldman has much less familiarity with the contents of the bills floating around Congress than the housewives, contractors, and restaurant owners who are standing up for themselves.

The professorette made another statement that was totally asinine. She accused the folks who are attending town hall meetings to express their displeasure with the attempted government encroachment of suppressing democratic debate. This is one of those cases where arrogance smothers intellect. Slobbering Leftists and Obama sycophants suffer from such severe tunnel vision as they seek Utopia that they do not recognize that the protesters ARE the democracy.
They ARE the debate. Remember, Nancy Pelosi sent her flying monkeys back to their home districts to "educate" the dumb masses on the wonders on socialized medicine. They did not anticipate or welcome the idea of their constituents expressing their own ideas. And, now we are finding out just what they think of the people they represent.

Obama Wants To Give You Post Office Quality Health Care

In defending the idea that government can be just another competitor in the health care industry, President Barry Vladimir Hussein Soetero Obama made this bizarre statement:

"UPS and FedEx are doing just fine, right?" the president said. "It's the Post
Office that's always having problems."

There is so much in that brief statement. There are the obvious non-sequitors in his comparison:

  • The government does not allow competition in the mailing of first class letters.
  • The government does not fine citizens who choose not to ship packages with anyone.
  • The government does not set a different set of regulations especially to make FedEx and UPS non-competitive.
  • If you choose to send a letter or package via a friend traveling to the corresponding destination, you and the friend are not subject to criminal charges.
  • Taxpaying citizens are not compelled to mail packages for non-taxpaying citizens.
  • People who are not currently customers of FedEx and UPS can use their services at any time, unlike government health care which explicitly outlaws new private plans.

But, the topper was his own admission that the U.S. Postal Service is a train wreck. Despite being propped up by the taxpayers, ever-rising rates, and ever-shrinking services USPS is $2 billion in the hole. It can do that because the profit motive is irrelevant. Yes, I know it's a for-profit corporation, but it never turns a profit. Its management collects hefty bonuses. They know, even if they fail, the tax payers will be forced to float them another loan.

FedEx and UPS have to compete in a free market. They must be profitable or risk extinction. The federal government will not bail them out. They cannot demand that taxpayers underwrite their mistakes. Therefore, they outperform the USPS.

So, in his own words, President Obama told us he wants to create an inefficient and inferior product to what we currently have. What a salesman!

Barack Obama's "I Think You're Stupid" Tour 2009

Barry Vladimir Hussein Soetero Obama has snapped. The lies are getting bigger and bolder. The disconnect from reality is greater all the time. It seems Mr. Hope-and-Change has taken the advice of noted statesman Adolf Hitler when it comes to employing the Big Lie:

The size of the lie is a definite factor in causing it to be believed, for the vast masses of a nation are in the depths of their hearts more easily deceived than they are consciously and intentionally bad. The primitive simplicity of their minds renders them a more easy prey to a big lie than a small one, for they themselves often tell little lies, but would be ashamed to tell big lies. (from Mein Kampf)
His current string of speeches across the fruited plan are based on one basic premise: he believes the American people are fundamentally stupid. The recession was caused by Bush's "tax cuts for the rich." The recession was a Republican party creation. The recession is now over. Massive spending bills have ended the recession. No one will have medical care if the government doesn't manage it. The cheering, clapping throng of loons demonstrates that he is right about a certain segment of the population. Our future depends on the zombies being a minority and opinion polls are showing good news on that front.

Here are a few inconvenient truths for Barry Vladimir Hussein Soetero Obama:

  1. Bush also inherited a recession and had to deal with the 9/11 attacks which devastated the economy further. He called for tax cuts which brought on 4+ years of unabated economic growth.
  2. The Bush tax cuts were for ALL tax payers, not just the wealthy. This is where Obama and the Leftists depend on your inability to do math. Ten percent of $50,000 if less than ten percent of $200,000. Both taxpayers get the same percentage cut, but the one who pays more gets more back. That is true economic justice.
  3. The "last eight years of Republican control" is dishonest. The GOP held the executive and legislative branches for four of those years. For two, the Congress was split and for two the Democrats held the majority. In fact, the last two years (2007-2008) when the economic downturn began happened under a Democrat Congress in which Obama was a member.
  4. Democrats never seriously opposed massive spending bills during the Bush years. The Democrat argument was always that NOT ENOUGH was being spent and that taxes should be raised. If the Leftists had mounted any sort of opposition to reckless spending they could take the high ground. Instead, they are complicit.
  5. President Bush and Republicans DID try to reform health care to cut costs. Whenever they tried to fix problems with Medicare, Democrats accused them of trying to kill old people. They tried to fix the problem of runaway lawsuits, but Democrats opposed caps because they are in the hip pocket of the trial lawyer lobby. They tried to open up the market for small business to participate in insurance pools to lower costs, but Democrats fought them. The only "reform" Democrats favor is a government take over.
  6. Republicans tried to investigate and fix the corruption and mismanagement of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. It was Republicans who called for greater oversight and regulation of those reckless institutions. Barney Frank can lie all he wants about the recent history of the financial markets, but he led the fight AGAINST greater regulation of the mortgage insurers. Some Democrats accused the investigators of racism. Meanwhile, Fannie and Freddie were hurtling toward insolvency while Democrat insider Franklin Raines was pocketing over $90 million as its CEO over three years.
  7. Don't try to paint Bush as a fiscal conservative. He was not. He was right to cut taxes, but wrong to expand government spending. Of course, the Democrats were right there voting for the spending. Conservatives increasingly criticized this so-called "compassionate conservatism" which is simply Liberalism Lite. When you say "their failed ideas", you are really talking about incremental socialism. Conservative ideas have nothing to do with any brand of socialism. We favor liberty and freedom, not government enslavement.
  8. Obama voted for every spending bill, except for a couple intended to defend our country. When Obama says "fiscal responsibility", he means HIGHER TAXES.
  9. Obama is now claiming there was "not a single earmark" in his "stimulus" package. Note the careful use of language. There was not a "single" earmark; there were thousands!

No doubt, there is a slice of America that is too ignorant to process the lies and distortions of ObamAlinsky and his Brownshirts. However, we deserve better. There is a reason he lies. There is a reason he ran to the right of John McCain, who is one of those foolish Republicans who simply wants to slow an inevitable march to socialism. Real Americans reject this notion. Socialism and enslavement by the government is not inevitable. We are citizens not subjects.

Barack Obama, Henry Gates and the Attack of the Race Baiters Part Infinitum

Pardon me, but I am sick to death of the on-going "conversation" on race in America. I know I'm just a privileged White guy (not really--Dad worked as a railroad brakeman and Mom as a homemaker), but it seems apparent to me that racism is much more a mechanism for grievance politics than a daily reality in American life. Don't get me wrong, I am well aware that there are bigots and there always will be. In fact, there are bigots of every race, ethnicity and gender. However, the stock phrase "we've come a long way, but we have a long way to go" is asinine in this day and age. The "long way to go" part simply means this: Democrats and the Race industry (i.e., Je$$e Jackson, Al Sharpton, and various so-called "leaders") are not finished using the average Black American to advance their power and position.

The arrest of Professor Henry Gates stemmed from a misunderstanding. From all accounts (including Black policemen and officials), it was Professor Gates who blew the situation out of proportion. The police responded to a call about a break-in. They found Mr. Gates. Of course, they were right to expect him to produce ID before they believed he was the home owner. Gates, who is a long-time engineer on the racial grievance train, went ballistic and was charged for his behavior toward the officers NOT for breaking into his own house as the mainstream media imbeciles have reported. The charges were later dropped, but it didn't stop the race hounds from being released on the public once again.

Last night, I watched part of CNN's "Black in America II." The psychology at work is fascinating. A segment about affluent Blacks was particularly interesting. It was repeated over and over that White people would be surprised these folks exist. Really? I have been White for most of my life and I can honestly say I don't recall ever having a conversation that included shock about a Black person working in a high-paying profession. Why would anyone be surprised to find Blacks working as stock brokers, doctors, lawyers or CEOs? The answer is simple: so-called Black "leaders" are the culprit for many of the negative images.

It is political Leftists and community organizers (like Je$$e, Al, and Barack) who constantly tell us that something has to be done for Black Americans. The implication is that Black Americans cannot do for themselves. Lowering taxes would help Black American. Improving the climate for business start-ups would help Black Americans. Getting the government out of individuals' lives would help Black Americans. Increasing domestic energy production would help Black Americans. Of course, those same things would help Whites, Asians, Hispanics and Pacific Islanders. In other words, truly effective public policy is not race specific.

Every day, Black Americans are taking advantage of educational opportunities. Every day, Black Americans are making smart financial decisions. Every day, Black Americans are working to take care of their families. Every day, Black Americans are counseling their children to do the right thing. Every day, Black Americans are working to advance in their jobs or maybe even starting their own businesses. Again, the key has nothing to do with race. These are individuals making smart and effective decisions to improve themselves and their families. They make the right decisions because they are good citizens and good people, not because they are Black.

Good public policy is color blind. It is not black vs. white. It is government vs. the individual. It is time the race warlords surrender their superiority. There is a cottage industry that has built its wealth and prestige on telling regular folks that they need the Democrat party and the self-appointed Black elites to maintain a basic existence. It is time for new leadership in the Black community that cares more about individuals advancing rather than upholding rotting institutions that have provided decades of disservice.

Let's be logical about this. The Democrat party has dominated the politics of almost every major urban area in America for decades. They control the states with the highest tax rates, the highest unemployment rates, and the highest crime rates. Yet, every election Leftist-Liberal-Progressive Democrat elites tell Black people they are the saviors of the race. The race warlords work hard to deliver votes for the Democrat party by promising more of the same policies that have not worked. Group identity politics has been a disaster.

I will give President Obama credit for giving an apology (sort of) for the disgraceful attack he launched on the arresting officer in the Gates affair. To whatever degree true racial profiling exists, we should all desire an end to the practice. However, just as importantly, we must also reach a point where a misunderstanding between a White person and a Black person can occur without the ghosts of lynchings past being invoked to convince Americans, Black and White, that little has changed in the last half-century. In fact, we have to be able to accept that it could just be the Black guy who acted like a jackass.

I started elementary school in the fall of 1970 in a school district that was integrated in 1967. Having Black students in class was no big deal. We never gave it a thought. I'm sure if you talked to Black kids from my school they heard mean comments from some kids at some point. But, it certainly was not part of the daily experience. Funny thing about kids, if you just leave them alone with each other they have no problem getting along. If all children are told they can succeed and are given the opportunities to do so, their skin color will not matter. However, when adults saddle their children with the baggage of the past the attitudes will become tainted. There will always be individuals who cannot release their racial prism. It is time that leaders resist the temptation to use the most base of human instincts to build their own power.

States May Flex Their 10th Amendment Muscles on ObamaCare

Finally. After a century of constant usurpations of state authority by the greedy three-headed monster known as the legislative, executive and judicial branches of the federal government, it seems some states may be poised to stand up to the tyrants. In an interview with talk show host Mark Davis, Texas Governor Rick Perry threw down the gauntlet. Perry had earlier supported a pro-10th Amendment which failed in the Texas legislature. At some point, states need to tell the President, the Congress, and the Supreme Court to pound sand when they attempt to rule as an autonomous national government rather than function as the limited government DEMANDED by the United States Constitution.

The Constitution says what it says and doesn't say what it doesn't say. Justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas have tried to point this out to their colleagues over the years. Arizona Congressman John Shadegg has introduced The Enumerated Powers Act (HR450 in the current Congress) for many years which would require that any bill introduced in Congress include a specific reference to where the Constitution allows for the legislation. Much of the on-going Tea Party movement is focused on the general notion that the federal government has exceeded its legitimate functions and has become a tyranny.

One step American Patriots can take against ObamaCare and much of the other nonsense emanating from the Beltway is to let their legislators know that they expect them to follow the Constitution. Tell them to support Shadegg's bill. Emphasize the Constitution's limit on the federal government when you email or call your legislator. Fill letters-to-the-editor and op-ed pages with commentaries about the Constitution. Challenge Leftists-Liberal-Socialist-Democrats to cite the Constitutional legitimacy of their Marxist ideas. The times they are a changin' for the the arrogant Leftists who thought 2008's election was a mandate for socialism. They were wrong and we need to keep the pressure on.

ObamaCare Includes Committee To Tell Folks How To Die

In Friday's New York Post, Betsy McCaughey exposed some of the lies in the health care "reform" bills that are currently being pushed through Congress. The promises of President Barry Vladimir Hussein Soetero Obama and the Democrat party do not jibe with some of the frightening provisions in the bills. The biggest lie involves the idea that people can keep their current policies. That is nearly impossible under the current bill.

Two main bills are being rushed through Congress with the goal of combining them into a finished product by August. Under either, a new government bureaucracy will select health plans that it considers in your best interest, and you will have to enroll in one of these "qualified plans." If you now get your plan through work, your employer has a five-year "grace period" to switch you into a qualified plan. If you buy your own insurance, you'll have less time.

And as soon as anything changes in your contract -- such as a change in copays or deductibles, which many insurers change every year -- you'll have to move into a qualified plan instead (House bill, p. 16-17).

When you file your taxes, if you can't prove to the IRS that you are in a qualified plan, you'll be fined thousands of dollars -- as much as the average cost of a health plan for your family size -- and then automatically enrolled in a randomly selected plan (House bill, p. 167-168).

No one with any political sense believed Obama about that anyway. Government is not a "free market competitor" as ObamAlinsky claimed. It is an instrument of force and that is how it functions.

One of the more sinister passages of this bill involves bureaucrats "advising" older folks on life and death decisions:

One troubling provision of the House bill compels seniors to submit to a counseling session every five years (and more often if they become sick or go into a nursing home) about alternatives for end-of-life care (House bill, p. 425-430). The sessions cover highly sensitive matters such as whether to receive antibiotics and "the use of artificially administered nutrition and hydration."

This mandate invites abuse, and seniors could easily be pushed to refuse care. Do we really want government involved in such deeply personal issues?

Are you starting to see where some of the cost savings may occur? The bill shows no other potential for reducing costs, so isn't if fair to assume that pushing our senior citizens toward the light more quickly could be the "cash cow" for reducing health costs? Rationing of care is implemented in most every country with national health care. In most cases, it involves a pecking order in which the elderly (and sometimes middle-aged) are denied or placed at the end of the line until treatment becomes a moot point.

So, Mr. or Mrs. Leftist-Liberal-Progressive, are you comfortable with a committee of federal bureaucrats deciding when your parents or grandparents have lived long enough? When that someday comes and D.C. pencil pushers decide that your loved one is a year past their treatment being a sound public investment, think back to the "bad old days" when we had the freedom to make our own health care choices.

The most recent ABC News/Washington Post poll (June 21) finds that 83 percent of Americans are very satisfied or somewhat satisfied with the quality of their health care, and 81 percent are similarly satisfied with their health insurance.

They have good reason to be. If you're diagnosed with cancer, you have a better chance of surviving it in the United States than anywhere else, according to the Concord Five Continent Study. And the World Health Organization ranked the United States No. 1 out of 191 countries for being responsive to patients' needs, including providing timely treatments and a choice of doctors.

Eighty-three percent of folks are satisfied, but we have a "health care" crisis that requires throwing that away for a government program? We have the most responsive health care system in the world and we need to gut it and turn it over to Barry Obama and the radical Left? These people are insane, but they are powerful and well-financed by folks that understand controlling people's health is a huge step toward controlling the people.

Liberty Summer Book of the Week: "Meltdown" by Thomas E. Woods Jr.

If you are tired of business as usual in Washington, D.C., Professor Thomas Woods has provided fuel for the fire. In his latest book, "Meltdown," Woods does not nibble around the edges of our bloated federal government to find the answers to our current (and future) economic problems. Instead, he stabs the beast right in the heart.
Throughout the last election cycle, especially with the disastrous economic news that began hitting in September, Barry Vladimir Hussein Soetero Obama bemoaned the failure of the free market. Government needed to take a greater role in the economy. Free market actors are all rogues, but government is the Lone Ranger, Superman, Santa Claus, and Mother Teresa rolled into one benevolent problem solving panacea. Sadly, his GOP counterpoint John McCain differed little from Amerika's First Marxist President when it came to allure of government solutions.
"Meltdown" exposes the underlying problems that brought on the current crisis and that will insure that any recovery will be small and temporary. It's the government, stupid. Woods' economic analysis is heavily influence by the Austrian School and, particularly, Friedrich Hayek.
Woods examines Congressional misfires of recent decades. He is equally willing to criticize Republicans as Democrats. After all, from 2003-2006, the GOP held the White House and both Houses of Congress, but did nothing to rein in Leviathan. Yes, I know Democrats accused every reform proposition as being code of racism, sexism, homophobia, blah, blah, blah. A note to the GOP if they ever regain control: "Grow a pair!"
While most Conservatives are well aware of the violence the legislative and executive branches do to the economy, Woods has scathing words for an institution that is always on the periphery of the argument, but receives little real criticism from either side of the political equation: the Federal Reserve. Did you realize that the United States became a world economic power WITHOUT the Federal Reserve? It is a fact of history that American expanded and strengthened for over 130 years without the Fed. The shenanigans were almost immediate. Many economists have come to conclude that the Fed was the key culprit in the 1929 depression (though Hoover and FDR did their level best to keep the depression going). Fed policy and pronouncements on the economy over the last two decades are shown to have played a significant role in the current collapse.
For those who accept the premises of supreme federal authority over all aspects of the economy, Thomas Woods' "Meltdown" will seem extreme. However, if you believe in federalism and the U.S. Constitution, you should be willing to put everything on the table in coming to terms with our current situation. The Federal Reserve needs to be examined, as does the conventional wisdom we are taught about the nature of depressions and recessions.
Ron Paul introduced HR 1207 which would audit the Federal Reserve. The bill has 261 co-sponsors--that is over half of the members! The bill has languished in the House Committee on Financial Services since late February where Chairman Bahney Fwank will likely do his best to kill it. A Senate version (S604) is also bogged down in committee. Let's see if the most ethical Congress and the most transparent President are willing to open up the books of the shadowy agency that is increasingly taking control of the American economy.

Obama's EPA Repeals 1st Amendment and Transparency

The Wall Street Journal has a shocking piece on the Obama administration's silencing of a global warming heretic. The EPA is the agency at work in forcing scientists to accept climate extremist ideology over, you know, science! The global warming goons sound like the ruling classes of Medieval times who would declare a "scientific truth" and imprison anyone who dissented from their pronouncements.

EPA scientist Alan Carlin found out that you don't go against the family. Chicago rules have replaced scientific inquiry.

In March, the Obama EPA prepared to engage the global-warming debate in an astounding new way, by issuing an "endangerment" finding on carbon. It establishes that carbon is a pollutant, and thereby gives the EPA the authority to regulate it -- even if Congress doesn't act.

Around this time, Mr. Carlin and a colleague presented a 98-page analysis arguing the agency should take another look, as the science behind man-made global warming is inconclusive at best. The analysis noted that global temperatures were on a downward trend. It pointed out problems with climate models. It highlighted new research that contradicts apocalyptic scenarios. "We believe our concerns and reservations are sufficiently important to warrant a serious review of the science by EPA," the report read.

The response to Mr. Carlin was an email from his boss, Al McGartland, forbidding him from "any direct communication" with anyone outside of his office with regard to his analysis. When Mr. Carlin tried again to disseminate his analysis, Mr. McGartland decreed: "The administrator and the administration have decided to move forward on endangerment, and your comments do not help the legal or policy case for this decision. . . . I can only see one impact of your comments given where we are in the process, and that would be a very negative impact on our office." (Emphasis added.)

Mr. McGartland blasted yet another email: "With the endangerment finding nearly final, you need to move on to other issues and subjects. I don't want you to spend any additional EPA time on climate change. No papers, no research etc, at least until we see what EPA is going to do with Climate." Ideology? Nope, not here. Just us science folk. Honest.

The emails were unearthed by the Competitive Enterprise Institute. Republican officials are calling for an investigation; House Energy Committee ranking member Joe Barton sent a letter with pointed questions to Mrs. Jackson, which she's yet to answer. The EPA has issued defensive statements, claiming Mr. Carlin wasn't ignored. But there is no getting around that the Obama administration has flouted its own promises of transparency.

Now, there is change you can believe in. Science is now a religion or a rigid corporate doctrine. Independent thought will be punished. Big BrObama is watching.

But, never fear. You can be sure our Mainstream Media will do their job and investigate Big BrObama and the EPA's crackdown on scientific analysis. Just as soon as they finish with Michael Jackson's memorial service...Michelle Obama's garden...and Sarah Palin's relationship with Lucifer...and the attempts to overthrow a legitimate election in Iran...and America's desire to embrace illegal immigration...and the racist Conservative attacks on Sonya Sotomayor...and Chastity Bono's genitalia...and Barack looking cool...and Barack looking fit...and Barack being intelligent...and Barack saving the economy....but, eventually they will look into this thing.

Barack Obama Wins Daytime Emmy For Best Lead Role In A Drama

All politics has an element of propaganda, but Barry Vladimir Hussein Soetero Obama and his gaggle of clowns have taken the phenomenon to a new level. The staging of Obama's health care "town hall" was so blatant, I don't know whether to laugh or to be frightened. This seemed like something Hugo Chavez or Fidel Castro would have arranged to put a happy face on their latest usurpation of individual liberties. Of course, given the fact that Obama is of the same voice as Chavez and Castro on the Honduran president's overthrow after trying to become lifetime dictator, maybe we should be more alarmed than amused.

The emotional bang came from a lady from southwest Virginia named Debby Smith who is dealing with cancer. She is not the villain and everyone wishes her well and hopes she will get the needed treatments for a full recovery. However, she was not just someone who happened to be there. She is an employee of Obama's Organizing For America brownshirts within the DNC. The White House brought her to the event. Maybe she should ask her boss about helping her out. Of course, to her boss, Comrade Obama, Ms. Smith was simply "Exhibit A" (his words) for why all Americans should turn their health care over to the imperial federal government. The hug made for nice theatre, but she was used as a prop for further Statist usurpations of American freedom.

If Leftist Democrats were serious about health care costs, they would examine the reasons for those costs. When was the last time you heard a Democrat seriously discussing changes to policies and laws that would give greater freedom and flexibility to individuals, employers, and insurers? No, they simply beat us over the head with "turn your life over to the government and all will be well." Its about power, pure and simple. The amazing thing is that the dumb masses do not laugh in their collective faces when Democrats talk about government making an industry, any industry, more effective and efficient. The federal government is the Babe Ruth of inefficiency.

The extent of the ObamAlinsky propaganda machine has even led to antique journalist Helen Thomas snapping back at their media control. Thomas is a leftwing elitist, but even she is alarmed at the White House's tight grip on media access and staging of events. Give credit to Helen Thomas; unlike Katie Couric, Andrea Mitchell, Chrissy Matthews, George Stephanopolous, and most of the Mainstream Media she still has at least a little journalistic integrity.

One question for the DNC, Barry Vladimir Hussein Obama, the Mainstream Media, and all the front groups raising money to propagandize Americans to forfeit their bodies to government control: instead of spending tens of millions (or hundreds of millions) of dollars on spin and misinformation, why not create a free market insurance company based on the principles you want the government to impose on the folks? If you really want to provide insurance to 46 million uninsured people, you could easily get the ball rolling without involving the other 260 million people. Or could it be power, not health is the primary concern?

Why Is The Mainstream Media Surprised That Wal-Mart Supports ObamaCare?

Wal-Mart's announcement of its support for Barry Vladimir Hussein Soetero Obama's nationalized health care scheme has sent shockwaves through the state-run media. Shocking! The eeee-vil corporate giant supporting the kind-and-benevolent Democrats' desire to mandate mediocre medical care to all Americans is reported as a surprise development in the long march toward socialized medicine. Is the mainstream media really that stupid or are they convinced that we are?

Wal-Mart already has health care for employees. They see the strong possibility of more stringent federal regulations on employer-based health care and the likelihood of a government option. Hmmmm, so Wal-Mart can be a "good corporate citizen" and support universal health care while shedding the responsibility of paying for it directly. There is a reason the company has been so successful and will continue to be. They know how to play the game.

I don't fault Wal-Mart for this action. They are acting as good stewards of their company and their stockholders. They understand what Dr. Barry Mengele doesn't want you to grasp. The "public option" is less for individuals than it is for businesses. Why should they shoulder the responsibility of their employees' medical care when the imperial federal government is willing to take their workers into a government-based system?

Here is the other inconvenient truth of most government regulations and usurpations: despite all the "evil corporation" rhetoric that the Statists spew to the dumb masses these centrally-planned schemes are a boon to Big Bidness. The math is simple. Who can more easily absorb the greater costs of regulation and taxation, as established company or one that is growing or in the start-up phase? A larger corporation can diffuse the increased costs more broadly with less of a hit to the bottom line than can a smaller company. Ultimately, the consumers will pay any increased corporate taxes through higher prices, so Wal-Mart can do that more cheaply than can Bob-Mart, Sid-Mart or Dave-Mart.

Obama's health care scheme comes from the same totalitarian desires as his nationalization of banks, car companies and the energy industry. There is precedent. Americans should look back at FDR's horrendous National Industrial Recovery Act for an example of how this works. Competition and the free market were blamed for the depression that became "Great" with FDR's help. The NRA abolished competition and forced industries into strictly-enforced rules that eliminated the dynamism of capitalism.

So, expect more big corporations to jump on board. It is clear that any company that is willing to play ball with Comrade Obama will be taken care of and those who do not will become targets. I wonder how the Leftist propagandists will square their hate of corporate America with industrial support for universal health care? Or will they even need to as the dumb masses continue to mourn Michael Jackson and prepare for the next season of American Idol?

Obama Wants California To Be The Model For America; Bill Belichek Adopts Detroit Lions Defense

Every day, the same question pops into my head. Is Barry Vladimir Hussein Soetero Obama really this stupid or is he just convinced that the American sheeple are this stupid? The People's Republik of Kalifornia is hemorraghing jobs, losing population (outside of illegal immigrants), crushing its people with taxes and regulations and Obama holds the state up as the example the rest of the country should follow. Kalifornia and its incompetent governator do not have the money to run their government. Last night, they shut down discussions on an emergency plan to keep the state afloat. The Washington Examiner provides details of Kalifornia's descent into its Statist nightmare.

In the spirit of ObamAlinsky's desire to turn all of the United States into a fiscal basket case like Kalifornia, some possible inspirations from Obama's example:

  • New England Patriots coach Bill Belichek adopts the Detroit Lions' offense.
  • Coca-Cola relaunches "New Coke"
  • Mariah Carey takes singing lessons from Roseanne Barr
  • Mark Sanford hires Larry King as his marriage counselor
  • FoxNews vows to be more like MSNBC

Arizona To Impose 10th Amendment On Dr. Barack Mengele's ObamaCare

I get a tingly feeling up and down my leg when I see a state invoking the federalism component of the United States Constitution. It appears Arizona intends to do just that as a preemptive strike against Barry Vladimir Hussein Soetero Obama's scheme to nationalize American health care. A measure will be placed on the ballot in November, 2010 for Arizona voters to decide whether or not they want to submit their bodies to government control. It appears the 10th Amendment is again in vogue for states trying to avoid federal encroachment.

"The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite."

James Madison, Federalist No. 45, January 26, 1788

Richard Epstein in WSJ: Get the Court Room Out Of The Operating Room

Richard Epstein wrote an informative piece on the impact of medical malpractice lawsuits on health care costs in today's Wall Street Journal. Of course, as long as the trial lawyers are the Democrats' Sugar Daddies there will be no movement on this issue. Epstein looks at some of the factors that feed this costly problem:

Litigation in the U.S. has at least four distinctive procedural features that drive up malpractice costs. The first is jury trials, which can veer out of control and in any case introduce significant uncertainty. The second is the contingency-fee system, which allows well-heeled lawyers to self-finance litigation. The third is the rule that makes each side bear its own costs. This induces riskier lawsuits than are undertaken in most other countries, such as Canada, England and most of Europe, where the loser pays the legal costs of the winner. The fourth is extensive pretrial discovery outside the direct supervision of judges, which occurs far more readily here than elsewhere.

Even these features aren't the whole story. American judges frequently let juries decide whether honest mistakes are negligent. Judges in other nations are less likely to do so. American courts commonly think it proper for juries to infer medical negligence from the mere occurrence of a serious injury. European judges usually will not

American plaintiffs are sometimes spared the heavy burden of identifying particular acts of negligence, or of showing the precise causal connection between a negligent act and an actual injury. Lastly, damage awards for lost income and medical expenses in the U.S. tend to dwarf awards made elsewhere -- in part because governments elsewhere provide this medical care from their nationalized systems. In sum, the medical malpractice system provides incentives for plaintiffs that really do matter. Americans, for example, file claims about 3.5 times more often than Canadians.

Bernie Madoff Goes To Jail; Now Let's Get The Real Crooks

Bernie Madoff is off to jail for 150 years (give or take) and deservedly so. He is a liar and a swindler who stole massive amounts of money from trusting people. He told them one thing would be done with the money while instead it was appropriated for other uses. The public outcry was deafening and he has no defenders.

Why doesn't the country apply the same outrage en masse to the Bolsheviks in the Kremlin on the Potomac? The Madoff sentencing came three days after the House approved a multi-trillion dollar "Cap-and-Trade" bill that will add thousands per year to the energy costs of every American. Every product and service that requires energy will endure greater costs, so those businesses will be forced to raise their prices. A 1,200 page bill that no one read with an additional 300 pages dropped in at 3:00am the day of the vote. While reading this post you are committing a criminal act: breathing. As their leader Barry Vladimir Hussein Soetero Obama said of the bill, they are going after the polluters. Never mind that the air and water are much cleaner than 40 years ago and that American industry has done a lot to cut down on pollutants, Der Fuhrer is declaring war on polluters. You know, truck drivers, farmers, factories, etc. Now do you get why American factories often relocate overseas? Individual costs will soar and jobs will disappear.

It is time for the American sheeple to get over their collective case of recto-cranial inversion. Why would anyone be personally angry at Bernie Madoff unless they were one of the investors? Whether you want to or not, your are now on the hook for banks and car companies. You are responsible for over a trillion dollars worth of stimulus that is nothing but special-interest pork. Your personal energy costs will soar. Your ability to sell your house will be greatly compromised. These special interest puppets have driven more nails into the future of American industry and will send more jobs overseas. Soon, they will take your health care decisions away from you and your doctor and give them to a government oversight board. Bernie Madoff is a crook, Michael Jackson was weird, Kate Gosselin is an uber-witch and Mark Sanford is a hillbilly horndog, but none of them are going to raise your taxes or impact your standard of living. Huddled together in the U.S. Capitol are people who are working to sell you out for their temporary political and personal gain. Time to get a little angry out in Flyover Country.
