Patriots Should Shop Whole Foods--Boycott the Boycotters

John Mackey, CEO of Whole Foods Market, recently wrote an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal in which he laid out some common sense free-market solutions for problems in the American health care industry. The key to his solution set is a free-market approach, as opposed to government imposed regulations. It seems that was an unpardonable sin that Liberal-Leftist-Progressive-Socialist-Statist Democrats cannot forgive. Leftwing loons are pushing a boycott of the Whole Foods grocery chain.

Mr. Mackey laid out an impressive and thoughtful set of reforms that would address a number of health care issues. They may not be a final answer to the problem, but they are a worthy addition to the debate. Of course, he isn't alone. Conservatives have suggested remedies for the problems that ail the industry for years, but have been blocked by Leftists who realize that legitimate reform would be a barrier to the nationalization they desire. The worldwide failures of socialized medicine do not deter Statist ideologues who have a Utopian vision that will not be shaken by facts or evidence.

The closest Whole Foods to my home is about two hours away and I doubt I will drive to Winston-Salem for a grocery run. However, if you live close to a Whole Foods I hope you will give them a visit and maybe buy your weekly stash from them to show support for John Mackey. In fact, while the DailyKos and Democrat Underground lunatic asylums are championing Facebook-based boycott sites, there is also a pro-Mackey and Whole Foods group on Facebook.

It is obvious that we have an element of our population that has an insatiable desire for government involvement in their lives (unless they want to kill a baby or marry someone who uses the same public restroom). These folks do not desire solutions; they only seek to advance a failed ideology. It is increasingly important for the sane, liberty-loving element of American society (which is the vast majority, by the way) to raise our voices and throw our support behind those who take risks to fight back against the Amerikan Bolsheviks.

  1. Back in 2008, this Whole Foods, CEO John Mackey (how old is this kid?), was caught posting negative comments (trash talk) about a competitor on Yahoo Finance message boards in an effort to push down the stock price. So now I am suppose to take this loser seriously? Please, snore, snore.

It’s funny we hear Republicans say that they do not want “faceless bureaucrats” making medical decisions but they have no problem with “private sector” “faceless bureaucrats” daily declining medical coverage and financially ruining good hard working people (honestly where can they go with a pre-condition). And who says that the “private sector” is always right, do we forget failures like Long-Term Capital, WorldCom, Global Crossing, Enron, Tyco, AIG and Lehman Brothers. Of course the federal government will destroy heathcare by getting involved, Oh but wait, Medicare and Medicaid and our military men and women and the Senate and Congress get the best heathcare in the world, and oh, that’s right, its run by our federal government. I can understand why some may think that the federal government will fail, if you look at the past eight years as a current history, with failures like the financial meltdown and Katrina but the facts is they can and if we support them they will succeed.

How does shouting down to stop the conversation of the healthcare debate at town hall meetings, endears them to anyone. Especially when the organizations that are telling them where to go and what to do and say are Republicans political operatives, not real grassroots. How does shouting someone down or chasing them out like a “lynch mob” advanced the debate, it does not. So I think the American people will see through all of this and know, like the teabagger, the birthers, these lynch mobs types AKA “screamers” are just the same, people who have to resort to these tactics because they have no leadership to articulate what they real want. It’s easy to pickup a bus load of people who hate, and that’s all I been seeing, they hate and can’t debate. Too bad.

  2. Paul, your comment is nothing but a string of leftist cliches. First, you dismiss a company CEO's well-developed ideas for health care reform because of some dispute on Yahoo Finance a few years ago? Nice analysis, Skippy!
Then you list seven corporations that have gone out of business as evidence that the free market does not work. Would you now care to list all the corporations that are still in business? Medicare has tens of trillions of dollars of unfunded commitments. You mention military medical care, but the same leftwing loons were decrying the state of veterans' care just a couple of years ago. Did the VA magically become a paragon of quality the day Obama was inaugurated? The health care proposals in both Houses exempt Congress from participation, so something tells me the Americans who are forced into ObamaCare won't be getting the same quality the federal elites receive.

Unlike partisan dopes whose "thoughts" are wholly dependent on political parties, Conservatives were very critical of the reckless spending by the Republicans when they held the majority. Again, you show your lack of rational thought. How was Hurricane Katrina the fault of President Bush? In fact, how was the "financial meltdown" Bush's fault? Republicans are not blameless, but they did make attempts to reform Fannie and Freddie while Demmocrats accused them of racism and claimed there were no problems.

Your last paragraph is final evidence of your ignorance. Without this opposition you so despise, there would be no debate. Pelosi, Reid and Obama had hoped to throw together their socialist health care plan and ram it down the throats of American citizens. They had hoped to "educate" the people, not talk with them. Surprise, surprise. You can tell yourself that "Republican operatives" are behind the backlash, but that demonstrates you know nothing of the people who value liberty and reject tyranny. You may want to be a slave of the state, but patriotic Americans prefer freedom. For the record, the various leftwing groups supporting socialized medicine have out-spent free market groups by 5:1.

Read the polls, comrade! The folks don't want Big Brothers controlling their lives from womb to tomb. You can focus on "screamers", but they are a small minority. Most of the speakers are eloquent everyday folks who have actually read the bill, which is usually more than their legislator can say. The "hate" canard is Dem-speak for "I can't make a rational argument." Nowhere in your comment is any defense of a particular part of the nationalized health care bills under consideration. You only accuse the other side of ill will. The real hate comes from the Left who demonize regular folks for daring to stand up for liberty.

As for the "tea bagger" comment, the folks who are protesting big government are a part of the Tea Party movement. You probably are more familiar with "tea bagging" than I am.

  3. I am always glad to see Americans voicing their opinions, I may not always agree with them, but I enjoy it, so please keep boycotting Whole Foods Market, Inc., companies keep dropping sponsorship of the “Glenn Beck” BS, Astroturfers keep showing up at town hall meeting and get your shouts in (we all know you can’t articulate your position and are all about hate) they hate and can’t debate, sweet.
